Tom Marlatt's Biography

Tom has been painting abstract fine art on canvas for over 35 years. Tom describes his work as nonobjective abstract, meaning there is no specific image meant to be seen. Tom wants the viewers to be able to use their imagination. As Tom is painting, he is thinking about composition, movement, depth, power and excitement,

Tom uses a variety of brush techniques with an oil wash and palette knives. Each piece is done in multiple layers, sometimes up to 10, using transparent overlays one on top of another, taking 10 days to two weeks.

Tom's work has been rated one of the 10 best-selling presentations in California at the two-day Los Altos show which attracts artists from throughout the United States and features their fine art and quality craftwork including paintings, sculpture, photography, glasswork and jewelry.

During his 32-year career as a professional artist,Tom has produced more than 3,000 paintings. His work is exhibited throughout the United States and internationally. Corporate collections include Bank of America, Apple Computer, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Hoover Memorial Building, General Electric, Amdahl Corporation, Sun Microsystems and First Bank of Manila in the Philippines.
